Our Business

Stage One Steel Guitars is a part time, yet professional, business. I make one thing - high quality economy priced pedal steel guitars. My workshop was designed with this business in mind and is set up such that I can produce them fairly efficiently. I don't intend to mass produce instruments as I am not interested in having any employees, not to mention the fact that I have a really good job that allows me to build steel guitars in my off time. It is my intention to have a limited supply of instruments available for quick delivery. You can deal directly with the person who buys the raw materials, makes the parts, builds the bodies, does the assembly, tuning, adjusting, packing, shipping, answers the phone if it gets answered and even occasionally sweeps the floor.....me, Doug Earnest.

My friend and Denmark Stage One Distributor, Mr. Henning Kock on a visit to the workshop in 2006. Henning is a talented multi-instrumentalist and has sold about 100 Stage Ones. I'm the one seated behind my two pro model E9/B6 12 string universal tuning ZumSteels. Thanks for showing me Lloyd's "Borrowed Angel" intro, Henning! Yes, I have installed the air conditioner properly now.
